ESPNHS Winter All-America Team  | Winter State-by-State top players

The following are player bios on the 12 members of the ESPNHS Winter All-America team and the Coach of the Year.

F: Lauren Bohaboy, Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), Jr.
Bohaboy scored a school-record 28 goals for perennial national power Santa Margarita to earn Orange County Register Player of the Year honors and CIF Southern Section first-team honors.  She scored the team’s first five playoff goals to help Santa Margarita to the CIF quarterfinals before an injury ended her season. Bohaboy has committed to Notre Dame.

F: Micaela Castain, Castro Valley (Castro Valley, Calif.), Sr.
Castain emerged as one of the nation’s top scorers in 2010, finishing with 52 goals and 16 assists, leading Castro Valley to an undefeated season and a FAB 50 Top 5 finish. Castain was the Contra Costa Times Player of the Year. The Washington State signee had 141 career goals. The final goal of her career sparked Castro Valley to a 2-1 victory over San Ramon Valley for the section title.

F: Kelley Monogue, Boyd (McKinney, Texas), Jr.
Monogue was named the Dallas Morning-News Player of the Year after helping McKinney Boyd to a Texas 5A state runner-up finish. The Texas A&M commit finished the season with 40 goals and 25 assists.

MF: Haley Boysen, Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), Sr.
Boysen was named the CIF Southern Section Division II defensive player of the year, but the Southern Cal signee was quite active on offense, as well. Boysen had 16 goals and 10 assists as Harvard-Westlake went undefeated in regular-season play.

MF: Kylie Cook, The Woodlands (Conroe, Texas), Sr.
Cook was named the All-Greater Houston Player of the Year by the Houston Chronicle after leading The Woodlands to the Texas 5A state title. The Houston signee had 31 goals and a national-leading 41 assists.

MF: Abby Dahlkemper, Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton, Calif.), Jr.
Dahlkemper, who is one of the nation’s top 2011 recruits, was named the West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) Player of the Year for the second straight year after guiding Sacred Heart Prep to a second title. Dahlkemper, a U.S. under-17 national team player, has committed to Stanford.

MF: Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick, Amador Valley (Pleasanton, Calif.), Sr.
A U.S. under-18 national team member, Fitzpatrick earned All-East Bay first-team by the Contra Costa Times. The California signee finished with 15 goals and six assists.

MF: Chioma Ubogagu, Coppell (Coppell, Texas), Jr.
One of the nation’s top 2011 prospects and a youth national team member, Ubogagu scored 21 goals to lead Coppell. Ubogagu was a Dallas Morning-News first-team pick. She has committed to Stanford.

D: Natalie Ledezma, La Mirada (La Mirada, Calif.), Sr.
Ledezma, a U.S. under-18 national team member, capped her high school career with a third straight appearance on the Daily Breeze first team. The UCLA signee had 16 goals and 18 assists from a defensive position, although at times she played in the midfield.

D: Taylor Schneider, Carroll (Southlake, Texas), Jr.
Schneider is one of several top-flight juniors hailing from Dallas. Schneider was named the District 6-5A Utility Player of the Year in a league that features such perennial team powers as Coppell and Flower Mound Marcus. Schneider has committed to Notre Dame.

D: Crystal Shaffie, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), Sr.
Shaffie moved from forward to defender to solidify Mitty’s lineup, and she still managed to lead the team with 10 assists. She scored six goals. Shaffie, a San Jose Mercury News first-team pick, has signed with UCLA.

GK: Bryane Heaberlin, Berkeley Prep (Tampa, Fla.), So.
In a state loaded with elite goalkeepers, Heaberlin was the coaches’ pick as the best. After playing for the U.S. under-17 CONCACAF team, Heaberlin returned to high school to help Berkeley Prep to a state runner-up finish. Haeberlin posted nine shutouts and had an 0.85 goals against average.

Coach: John King, Esperanza (Anaheim, Calif.)
King swept the Orange County Register and CIF Southern Section Division I Coach of the Year honors after guiding Esperanza to a 27-0-4 record. In nine seasons at the Southern Cal power, his teams have one CIF Southern Region crown, one CIF Southern Section title and three semifinal appearances. In addition, Esperanza has won nearly 150 matches during his tenure, which includes a 69-7-8 record over the past three seasons.
