ORLANDO, Fla. -- The state of Michigan has been well represented at the Elite 11 finals over the past few years with current Michigan State quarterback’s Joe Boisture (2009) and Andrew Maxwell (2008) from the Wolverine State making the Elite 11 as well as recent Michigan signee Devin Gardner and Penn State-bound Robert Bolden.  


In Orlando, Trey Heren out of Saline (Saline, Mich.) who served as Boisture’s backup this past fall won the first EA SPORTS Golden Gun Accuracy challenge of 2010.  


Heren narrowly edged out Northwestern (Miami, Fla.) rising junior Elgin Hilliard, who led the entire field with 15 points heading into the finals. It took a sudden-death throw off with Heren leaving with the Golden Gun jersey. Below are the EA SPORTS Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge scores for each of Sunday’s participants.

Group One Notes: Allen got some good experience this past year starting six games as a freshman and was pretty productive throwing eight touchdowns. … Kade Bell had a nice junior year at Providence (Jacksonville, Fla.) throwing for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns and will battle for the starting job at Fletcher this fall. ... Ronnie Bell earned all-state honors throwing for 2.003 yards and 17 TDs. … Burrows had a great day and even more impressive posted a 96.00 SPARQ rating the day before at the Orlando Nike Combine. … Class of 2012 QB Coney really impressed the coaches throughout the day in each drill showing great accuracy evident by winning this group. … Dan-Fodio, a two-year starter, is holding offers from Clemson, UCF and Maryland just to name a few.

Group Two Notes: Dodson was a honorable mention all-state selection after rushing and passing over 900 yards and 14 total TDs last fall. … Driskel is being recruited across the country and justified all the attention with an impressive day Sunday. … Ely has led Plant to  back-to-back state championships and continues to keep improving. … Last year Grady accounted for over 2,500 yards and 28 touchdowns for one of the state’s top programs. … Guy is an underclass player to keep an eye on next year. … Heren made the trip worth it winning the golden jersey and was solid through out the workout.

Group Three Notes: Coaches at Northwestern are high on Hillard, who scored the most points in the first round. … Hughes earned all-state honors after passing for 1,745 yards and 18 TDs as a junior. … Jones was the quarterback for a first year program last fall, throwing for 1,000 yards 7 TDs and should do much more this fall. … Latmore is good looking player, who passed and rushed for over 800 yards as a junior. … McCray was one who stood out in each drill showing good overall athleticism. … McGriff earned second team all-state honors throwing for 2,457 yards and 36 touchdowns last fall.
